SOOO...the new Sex and the City Movie is coming out tomorrow and I can't hardly stand to wait for it!!!! AHHHH!!! I just tried to call into the local radio station Mix106 in order to win a 4-pack of tix for the premiere tomorrow night and I actually got through but the first time I got through, I was only the 3rd caller and the second time I got through, they already had a winner--arrrrghhh!!! The next time they will try to play for tix is after 7pm. I'm gonna try again, I think. The contest was to see if you could spell some random words from the series such as designer names and other miscellaneous items. I could spell everything I heard this morning when they were first playing it! It was so frustrating because the people I heard playing sounded so moronic trying to spell those words such as Manolo Blahnik, Dooney and Bourke and lingerie! Well, the Dooney one would've been a bit harder because there are so many ways to spell Bourke/Burk/Burke/Birke whatever....I probably wouldn't have gotten that one but the others--COME ON!!! (oh yeah and the only reason I knew Manolo was because I saw it spelled out in a magazine ad or something). Anyway--I have GOT to go see the movie if that hasn't been obvious enough. If I don't get the tix, I'm going with a friend on Saturday morning to see it since we've planned it already but I'm sure if I got the free tix, she'd be willing to come along to that instead. :) I'm SO excited....okay, I'm sure you're like, "SHUT UP ALREADY!" So, I will....YAY!
Still in the process of applying for jobs. I've already gotten some feedback from one at BSU--it's a position for an infant/toddler teacher. I've got experience (several summers worth)! Hopefully she doesn't ask to call really because I couldn't tell you if they would remember me...She'd have to refer to me as my maiden name though because they wouldn't know who the heck Jennifer Campbell was. If she does call, I hope the same people are working there or they have some sort of record of who all has worked there in the past. I also applied for several positions in the Boise school system (only ones who's pay is considerably more than what I had at Garfield). That would make it even worth it to drive from Meridian to Boise. We'll see what happens though. Maybe I'll start getting some calls. I've gotten a couple of hugs and "awwwwws" from teachers at Garfield today because they know that my last day is tomorrow. They said they're sad to see me go. One first grade teacher even said that she hoped to be teaching together some day. :( Sadness...
The application is so tedious and scary too! I just have to let go and apply for just about anything and everything. Sometimes I when I click apply on the screen of the computer and my info is sent out, I have a little panic attack and wonder, "Is this really what I want to do? Am I really interested in it and would that come across in my interviews?" *sigh* This is what I mean about the darn process.
Oh and I just got word that the German program at both sister schools in Dekalb County, GA got cut. This includes the one that I worked at last school year (Rowland). The good thing is that since those German teachers had already signed their next year's contracts, the district had to find them places in the schools to work. The bad thing is, they mostly have to be spread around in the special ed areas. Well, I guess that could be good for some maybe if they like that sort of thing--it takes really special people to do that. I don't know how I would respond to that if I were still there. So, let's just keep those teachers in our thoughts and hope everything goes well for them!

Happy Birthday to you!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO TIGER!! Today is Tiger's approximated 1 year birthday! How fast he as definitely grown...it's sad--I still want him to be a tiny kitten. :( :)
This weekend was a lot of fun. We did a lot of stuff including Friday night, we had Maren and her beau over for dinner. I made Pasta e Fagioli and it was wonderful! We played a cool game called Raj. They left around 9:30pm and it was time for Kyle to definitely go to bed because it was late for him! But it was all worth it!
Saturday was pretty noneventful because Kyle worked and I basically just mowed the lawn and whatnot. We went out to eat when Kyle got home and we went to this place in the city called Flatbread. REALLY GOOD! We will be taking family/friends there from now on.
Sunday was very active because we went on a long bike ride on the greenbelt--we rode for about 1.25 hours. It was a beautiful day and we took advantage of it. We went ahead and did our cooking out that night because we had a feeling Monday would be stormy--and guess what? It's thundering now and raining. After dinner, we went on a long walk--we were gonna go all the way to downtown Meridian, but I all of the sudden got the terrible urge to use the bathroom and so that didn't work out. We turned around and walked (briskly) back home, but I ended up having to stop at the gas station on the corner of our street because I wasn't sure that I would be able to make it back--hahaha... Oh, we also made hummus too earlier in the day. It's really good and spicy!
Today we took it easy. We ended up getting into the car and driving to BSU so that we could park for free and walk around. We walked for a total of 75 minutes. We walked to a section of town called Hyde Park--very expensive (historic and trendy) area. There's a cute little ice cream/candy shoppe called Goody's. I convinced Kyle to stop and have an ice cream since we had already walked that far. It was delicious! I didn't have to convince him to much... ;) A storm started to brew so we left soon after we had finished eating and walked quickly back and surprisingly it only took us about 30 minutes to walk back as opposed to taking 45 minutes to walk there in the first place (of course, we had to take a break and look in Anne Taylor Loft to see what sales they had going on). So, that's about it for today. Happy Memorial Day, ya'll!
Oh and as for an update on the job search: I found a position available at a high school in Boise that is for an academic interventionist (not sure exactly what is expected of the job) but it's in the ELL program so it's really something that I'm aiming for in the future so maybe it'll be advantageous of me to get it. It pays much more than anything else ($13.93/hr). I got all my documents uploaded on their online application so hopefully I'll be getting a call. Keep your fingers crossed!

Company this weekend!
We're going to have Maren and her boyfriend over for dinner on Friday!
Ugh, I've been battling a little head cold this past week/end. It's just now kind of going away but I still can't breathe freely. At least I don't have to blow my nose every two minutes--now it's like every 10-15 minutes.
It's crazy that Woodstock got a tornado! I saw some pictures of the damage on ajc.com. Wow.
We found it weird that we had a rain storm yesterday that actually lasted most of the evening! Most of the time, the rain only lasts like 10 minutes at the most.
So since the news of probably not having a job next year, I've been mulling options over in my head. To sub, or not to sub? To get another one of these jobs elsewhere or not? There is another title I tutor position available at Peregrine ES, which is right across from our neighborhood but it pays $9.16/hr, whereas the one I have now pays $9.99...is it worth it? I wouldn't even have to drive to work! So, I wouldn't have to even pay gas money...Something to think about, right? There's also a job at a junior high that pays &12.86/hr for a secretary position but the school is about as far away as Garfield. Also, there's a title I teacher job at another school but I have to have my teaching license in order to work there. I turned in all my papers to the dept. of education but who knows when all that is going to get processed. PLUS, I don't know if I want to tie myself down with something like that due to having to take master's classes on some Fridays. I figure I want a job as flexible as I have right now or even more flexible (like subbing). Argh. Just not sure what to do.
I never wanted to settle for anything less than what I'm worth. I mean, why should I since I went to school for 5 years? But I guess I'm going to have to do it until I can get my master's...and when I say less, I'm not meaning the position because if it were up to me, Title I tutors (and other paras) would get paid so much more because of all the crap they have to put up with! I just mean less as in pay...and less responsibilities (as in no classrooms and such). Paras put up with verbal abuse all the time. The kids love me at my school but I did have some of them tell me that I couldn't put their name up on the board because I wasn't the teacher, when actually I was the teacher at that moment because I was facilitating the activity they were doing and they weren't listening to instructions. Then they ended up having questions and getting stuff wrong. Hmpf.

An Unfortunate Turn...
Whoa! Long time, no see! Here's an update...
Yesterday, I got pulled into the principal's office and the principal started talking to me about next year. Unfortunately, the funds for Title I are looking pretty bad and they're probably going to have to let Maren and me go. He said that I should just persue anything that I've got going whole-heartedly and don't worry about anything. That being said, I haven't told you guys the rumor that I heard from a sub here at Garfield: She said that her friend is a Spanish teacher in the elementary school system in Meridian and she said that she's worried because she doesn't think she'll have a job next year because they're thinking about replacing Spanish with German. HA! I've never heard that one before--last year at Rowland, all I kept hearing from parents who would complain about German was, "Why are the kids learning German? Why don't they learn Spanish??" But again, this is just word of mouth and I haven't even gotten a confirmation from this sub as to where her friend works and whatnot. No details yet. So, it may not even happen. In that case, I'll probably return to subbing (ick!) and that will actually help me with my master's degree classes because it'll be a little more flexible when I need it to be. Needless to say, I'll give out all my information to the teacher's there at Garfield because I liked working there--I maybe didn't always have great days there, but at least the kids will be familiar with me.

What a shame!
Um, so Kyle and I spent one of our nice, warm days the other weekend planting new flowers in our garden. Last night, we had a cold snap (about 30 degrees or something) and they're dead. The orange and yellow flowers are lying flat on the ground and the purple ones are still standing but they don't have much longer to go, I guess. :(
What an interesting day!
One of the title I tutors has been out all week due to asthma inflicted stuff and a huge nosebleed. Apparently her nosebleed was so bad, she had to go to the hospital and have her nose cauterized. Well, she came back today since we had early release and she thought she could make it those few hours of the day but nope...She was sitting at her computer and someone else saw her face turn beet red and thought she was having a heart attack! She needed her inhaler because she couldn't breathe! Paul grabbed her purse and brought it over to her and they frantically searched for her inhaler and finally found it. She was able to finally catch her breath but then she got really hot and was panicking. Shortly after, she felt like she had to vomit--that was my cue to leave because she started heaving into the trashcan. After I had left the room, I heard she had another nosebleed but it wasn't as bad as what she had this past weekend. We think the inhaler caused the bleeding. Meredith and Paul took her back home so she could rest. The doctors had told her not to go back to school and climb stairs or whatever. Our school has stairs all over the place...so basically, it's the worst place to be when the doctors tell you something like that. Anyway, we had a very eventful morning. I only had to be in 3 classes today due to early release. In the late morning, I had a really long break and so Meredith and I went on a coffee run for the others in the office. That was a nice break.
It's a beautiful day today and why am I in here typing? I don't know.
