Last weekend was our first time skiing since we'd been out here and it was so much fun! We got to the slopes at about 9:30am and waited until our lesson started at 11am. This ski resort is called Bogus Basin and it's about an hour away from us. So this made an early morning for us. We had our lesson and the guy was really nice. He was supportive and encouraging to me, being a first-timer and all. I learned how to get on and off the lift and I learned how to slow down and stop. After our lesson, we tried some stuff on our own and then had lunch. After lunch, we wanted to see what other easy trails were out there other than the "Coach's Corner." We found a trail that seemed easy enough on the first part. We got to the second part and I nearly wet my pants! It looked sooooo steep and it didn't look like it had an end in sight. I told Kyle that I couldn't do it but there was no other way down but down. Let's just say, I made it down finally but not without about 5 spills. It was so frustrating that these little 4 and 5 year olds were flying down the hills very smoothly without falter and here, a 25 year old is lying on the side of the trail, paralyzed with fear and not being able to stand up. "HELP!! I've fallen! And I CAN'T GET UP!" Anyway, the most of the day was spent going down the small hill and then we finally left the resort at about 4pm.
Work is going fine with both of us. We're still trying to find time for each other because of our opposite work schedules. Have we mentioned that we don't really like the night shift?

Skiing!
We took a picture right before we headed to the lift line.
This is "Coach's Corner" which is where I learned to ski down my very first incline....not much of an incline...yet.
Look at me looking all proud and stuff before the really BIG incline...

Stylin' the ski wear and trying out which jacket I would like to wear.
I look like I'm about to go scuba diving.
Chillin' in the lodge before our lesson.
Why do I look tired? Kyle got me up early in the morning just to wait about an hour and a half before our lesson. It's the whole band member philosophy: "Hurry up and wait" or "If you're on time, you're late...if you're early, you're on time."
I have a funny ski story to tell, but I don't feel like typing it right now since it's kinda getting late right now...I'll fill ya'll in when I get a free moment tomorrow night.

What a great weekend!
So far, I'm having an awesome weekend! Friday started off with parapro inservice at Boise State and that lasted from 8-1pm..a little boring, but oh well--it's done. Maren and I went downtown right after we were dismissed for the afternoon. We walked around for about 2 hours and shopped/browsed in stores. I saw some stores that I hadn't seen before. It's nice going walking in stores with a girlfriend because she doesn't mind stopping and looking at everything. We bought some sale items again at Ann Taylor Loft because the sale was REALLY GOOD! I got a pair of corduroys (spelling?) for $10 and also a nice blouse for the same amount! I think I could get in the habit of shopping there as long as they have their good sales! Otherwise, they're really expensive. At about 4:15, we met Kyle at Front Door Pizza. He also had a friend coming that also works at Micron. So we all enjoyed ourselves at dinner and had a great time visiting.
We've been having issues with finding a couple of friends that we can both hang out with on a consistant basis. The backyard neighbors haven't gotten in contact with us since we had them over at our house about a month ago. Did we offend? Kyle tells me that we need to call them again and try to go out with them and I don't think so. It's their move now. We've made all the moves to invite them over and stuff and I even made them cookies for Christmas (with nothing in return)! Not that the nothing in return is important because I made the cookies just because I wanted to do some holiday baking but the least they could do is ask us to go to a restaurant one night. I know they have small children and maybe it's hard to get a babysitter, but I've seen them have a babysitter before because the guy came over with the little boy one day when he had accidentally thrown his ball over our fence. Kyle's been wanting to get together with the husband, Cris because Cris had expressed interest in possibly playing some playstation with him one night. So, Kyle called and gave his cell number and still no response. *Sigh* They're really nice people and we'd like to have them as friends. We just don't know what to do with people who don't respond to friendliness with reciprocation. Other people at Micron that Kyle has worked with are all on opposite schedules than him and so it's hard for him to have coworkers over or meet them at a restaurant. My schedule's a little more conducive to having get togethers with friends because I work normal hours. Maren and I seem to have struck up a good friendship and Kyle feels a little jealous that he can't have the same. I feel bad. It's hard for us to find a church and to keep going consistantly because of his every other Saturday schedule and I don't want to go to church by myself either. Maren invited me to a book club meeting at her church where they'll be talking about Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. I'm kinda interested in going even though I haven't read the book yet--maybe I should soon. I'm willing to go, I guess, even though I'm not an avid reader. She is such a nice girl!
Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! Did ya'll do anything special? Kyle and I both received our year's supply of peanut and plain m&m's from Mom and Dad--thanks! I'm gonna have to ration mine out so they last longer and so I don't make myself sick on them..hahaha. I LOVE peanut m&m's!!!!! They are the one candy I could not live without. They'd probably be the one candy I'd take with me if I were stranded on a deserted island. Anyway, I guess I better get to bed now. Kinda tired.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
We just wanted to be one of the first to say to ya'll: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! We love you all and miss everyone that is living a long distance from us! We hope ya'll have a wonderful day full of love and friendship.
My after school kids made Valentine's cards. I showed them how to make pop-up cards with hearts on them and I gave them candy. I think they're really starting to like me..hahaha. Kyle has to work on Vday night. That's ok though because we went out for our Vday meal on Monday night to P.F. Chang's. It's really good chinese food! We also exchanged cards and candy on Sunday. It was a good time. :)
p.s. The other night, I tried on a pair of size 10 pants and I was able to zip AND button them! Unfortunately, I didn't buy them because even though they were zipped and buttoned, they just barely didn't fit right and it would've been pretty uncomfortable looking. The last time I fit in a size 10 was high school! I also was able to wear a top today that I hadn't worn since my freshman year of college! Success again!

Happy Weekend!
I'm so glad it's the weekend. It's a much needed break and this coming weekend is going to be a long weekend due to President's Day. Friday I have to go to an inservice day at the university but that's only 8-1pm and then as far as I know, I'm done for the day. That's about as interesting as it gets for me right now.

Mairzy Doats!
I'm going to induct Kyle into the "Mairzy Doats" culture that Chris and I are a part of due to our many roadtrips made with Grandma and Grandpa. I ordered the cd and now I'm going to play it everytime I get a chance and especially when we're on our way to San Francisco in March for Spring Break! I already played a preview for him this afternoon and he seemed to enjoy it and laughed at some of the songs, for example the song "Huggin' and Chalkin'". He said that now a days, people couldn't make these songs because they'd be considered derrogatory. However, now a days, there are so many derrogatory songs out there--what's another song? Except these songs use comic language instead of potty language.
Ugh...I was all ready to go to the gym and now I'm not because I'm SO COLD! I know going to the gym would warm me up, but....no. I've been really tired this week from work. I'm getting frustrated with some of the kids there at work. When you look in their eyes, you know there's nothing going on between those ears of theirs! GEEZ! You know that they don't get any intellectual interaction at home and so sad and makes us there at the school very frustrated and sometimes it can feel like, "what am I doing this for?" Then you just have to realize that you're providing a valuable service for these children and perhaps these kids will actually improve at some point. Some mornings I just want to scream at the children and say, "WHY DON'T YOU JUST READ THE STUPID WORD!!!!???" But then again, I can't and I wouldn't feel right doing that, would I? :) Plus, it'd just be plain mean.
On another note: I really hope those deadly tornadoes don't hit GA! Ya'll need to stay away from those twisters, ok? Be safe there in the ATL! We'll be safe here in the snow storms as long as ya'll stay safe from the tornadoes.

Shoveling!
I've just about decided that I don't like snow shoveling. On the other hand, it's a great workout for the arms. We got a whole bunch of snow last night (around 2-4 inches). Our driveway and sidewalk were totally covered and you couldn't even tell where they were. I grabbed the shovel and went at it. Snow sure is heavy!
